A Dickinson, Texas, resident was arrested and charged with interference with child custody Friday after allegedly violating a court order by taking his son who was reported missing.
Dickinson police say William Alva Marshall Jr., 63, was found with the missing child – his 10-year-old biological son – and violated an existing court order. Police say Marshall paid a friend to drive the child to extended family living in Conroe. Officials say the child was safely located and returned home.
Police began an investigation Sunday after the child was reported missing by his mother. Officials say direct media reports on the child’s disappearance prompted several phone calls to detectives about the child’s location.
Police located Marshall and arrested him without incident Friday after issuing a warrant for his arrest on Wednesday. Marshall is being held on a $15,000 bond and could face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted on the interference with child custody charge.
